Croatian midfielder Nikola Pokrivac has died in a car accident at the age of just 39. The former Monaco and RB Salzburg star earned 15 international caps between 2008 and 2010.
Pokrivac made a return to football in 2021 after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma a decade earlier. He had been playing for fifth-tier side NK Vojnić, having joined the club last summer.
Pokrivac died following a four-vehicle collision in the Croatian city of Karlovac on Friday evening.
