Two buses carrying groups of tourists veered off the same part of the road after dangerous weather struck New Zealand’s South Island.
The buses were travelling in the same direction on the highway when they overturned at the same time – and only 100 metres apart from one another, according to New Zealand Police.
Black ice and heavy fog had been reported in the area, though the official cause of the crashes has not been confirmed yet.
The Chinese consulate in New Zealand told AP the buses had been carrying groups of Chinese tourists. Fifteen passengers were rushed to hospital, with two taken by helicopter in serious condition.
